My birthday drinks

Written on February 11th in Uncategorized

So, on Friday a group of us got together to celebrate the HUGE occasion of me turning 23. We met for drinks at Prudence, a cool little bar on Victoria St, North Melbourne. I had a really good time, especially catching up with some girls I hadn’t seen for a while. Thanks to everyone who showed up, even Aidan made an appearance, which was awesome!

An Update

Written on December 1st in Uncategorized

Well, I have a new job. I’ve spent the last week and a half carrying boxes, opening boxes, counting the contents of those boxes, repacking those boxes, and then carrying them to another shop. It’s been great fun! The last couple of days have been spent on my knees pricing garments on racks so low not even a dwarf could limbo under them - thanks to that, my knees are shot, and I went to the hospital today to have the doctor drain some really bad fluid from them. My right knee was black all over at lunch time today, and the doctor managed to suck up some lovely smelling green muck :) Apparently, not only had I flared up my old tennis injuries in both my knees (causing them to retain fluid at an abnormal level) but I managed to score some minor infection under my right knee cap, resulting in a nice build up of greeny muck and me taking some antibiotics to clear it up after having four needles in my knees!! Joy oh joy.

Enough about that. My job is actually pretty good at the moment. I’m only working Monday to Friday which is fantastic, and getting paid weekly which is making the financial situation much better for me. I’m selling underwear (yay me) and Bonds clothing at a store in the new Spencer St DFO. I may have only been there for a week and a half but I’m really enjoying it, and from what I can tell they seem to be rather happy with me. Knowing my run of late, we’ll sit back and go with the flow.

Time to start the christmas shopping soon. Not really looking forward to it, although I did put the tree up today which kind of got me in the right mood.

It’s over

Written on November 3rd in Uncategorized

Well, it has been over for a while. I had my last exam for the semester on Tuesday afternoon. It was awesome - 80 multiple choice questions, and they couldn’t have been more related to the areas I revised. Unlike my Government Relations exam, which was just well, CRAP. I think it’s the first time I almost cried after an exam. It was awful.

But as to why I haven’t written about this earlier, as soon as I walked out of my last exam, I started to feel pretty crap. Dry sore throat, itchy eyes, stuffy head…yep, after practically killing myself with the stress of studying, I have succumb to a bout of tonsillitis and a rather nasty head cold.

Not much else to say really, except I’m still on the job hunt, and waiting to hear back from a few interviews.

Semester One, 2007

Written on October 28th in Uni

I know, this semester isn’t even over with and I’m already talking about the next! I really have nothing important to write, except to say that I just selected Criminal Law as one of my subjects for first semester next year. Some people may say I’m crazy, others may say I’m brave…at the moment I’m not sure what I am in that regard. But I do know that I had better start saving my pennies in order to buy the books - 4 books = $400! Just for one subject! How do those law students do it?

Ok ok, enough procrastinating. My first exam is on Monday, and I am doing everything possible to avoid revising, including re-inking my printer cartridges!

5 days…

Written on October 25th in Personal

…until my exams, and two months until christmas. I’m not sure which event I should be more worried about! Christmas in Melbourne is ridiculous! As andy pointed out to me on the weekend, the wires that hold the christmas decorations up in Bourke Street Mall are already up, so it wont be long until the deco’s go up too! And once they’re up, the masses come out, finally being prompted to start their bloody christmas shopping. You can barely move in the city as it is sometimes, but from the end of November until Christmas Day it’s a ridiculous idea to even consider venturing into the city, unless you want to spend all day tip-toeing around, trying not to tread on the toes of the slow group of people walking in front of you.

On the note of exams, I got my marketing assignment back, finally. Fell just short of a distinction, which was a massive surprise for me! So I’m definitely not stressing so much about my marketing exam. My Government Relations and Issues Management exam on the other hand, well, at the moment I’d rather curl up inside a cocoon until it’s all over. Six days and it will all be over - four months of nothing. Well, maybe not nothing. I’ll still have to wait until January to find out if I’ve got my course transfer the scholarship…so that might be two and a bit months of fretting in that regard.

Andy’s got his interview tomorrow morning, which is exciting and somewhat daunting at the same time. I’m sure he’ll do well. I know he would really benefit from the position, but as he said, we’ll just take it one step at a time.

Anyway, time to return to the study…

Two weeks

Written on October 17th in Uncategorized

Yeppers, that’s right - only two weeks left until I can somewhat relax and uni will be over for the year. My head is a mess, more to the point, I am a mess. I’m exhausted, from studying and from feeling pretty crook for almost the entire week, and I’ve been sleeping more than I have in a long time. Hopefully when exams are over, things might start to get back to normal and I wont be feeling so ‘blah’ every day. I’ll just have to wait and see.

I’ve put in my application for transfer into the Bachelor of Criminology for next year, and I really hope that I get offered a spot. I simply have no interest in PR anymore. Well, not like I did in the beginning. I want to relate it to justice studies, but it’s not available, hence my interest falling. I want this transfer more than anything right now - I seriously doubt being able to survive another semester consisting entirely of PR and managing to hold on to what is left of my sanity. I’ll keep my PR major, but that is it. I endeavour to cut all ties, at least with PR at Deakin.

Hmm, what else is happening? A is going to apply for a job at Google which is so very exciting. Just needs to sort out his resume, and then go from there. There’s jobs in Sydney, and pretty much all over the US - I’m not quite sure which he really wants, but I guess he would probably take anything - guess I’ll just have to wait and see.

On that note, I might go now and do some more uni work.
