Say.. thats a nice bike.

… well thats what the T1000 would say to me, if I saw him and I was in the Terminator 2 movie.

I impulsed bought a new bike on Saturday. It’s a GT Outpost 2005, and it’s a dream to ride compared to my last bike.

New Anti-Smoking laws for Melbourne

I haven’t really been reading the news, but I found an article about the new smoking laws in Victoria.

From the Tobacco Reforms Victoria web site, I found that from 1st July 2007, smoking will be prohibited in:

I personally cannot wait for these laws to start. I would prefer to even see the second point be extended to say ‘Not smoking in any outdoor area where food/drink is served‘ like what Brisbane has. Comments about the issue on the Age website seem to follow my opinion also.

It shits me that everytime I go out somewhere, I have to breathe smoke. It’s rubbish, and these laws are great.

Grand Final Day

We had a bit of a BBQ for Grand Final day. Even if you don’t like any of the teams, it’s still a celebration of how great AFL is.

After the game, we walked down to the Arden Street oval (home of the Kangaroos) and kicked the ball around until it got dark. Good times.

Doing some Sol searching

J-Dog went to Sydney last week for the Telstra Small Business Awards, where he happened to bump into my mate Sol. You may recall the previous encounter that I had with Sol, where I recieved the ‘Peace Out’ after leaving Big-T.

Siezing the opportunity, J-Dog told Sol about the photo of him and I, and managed to get a photo with him on the night, which was a real pisser :)

Just when you thought it was all over, the unoffical Sol was at the Exchange Hotel on Friday night. Here’s a shot with Tom, Sol and Steve (borrowed from Tom’s blog)

I couldn’t miss the opportunity to give Sol a little ‘Peace Out’ back.

Afterwards, Tom bought unofficial Sol a Corona, and unofficial Sol asked ‘What the hell is this?’. Tom replied: ‘You should know… you’re Mexican!’.

Priceless :)

Banshee 0.11.0 is rad

The new Banshee rocks. Not only does it do two-way iPod sync, but it also does cover art, iTMS (from a plugin) and Last.FM recommendations. I nearly forgot, it also does DAAP for sharing with iTunes over mDNS.
I made some ebuilds for Gentoo, and submitted a bug report for it.
Rad.

Geelong v Williamstown VFL

teacoval.jpg

After watching some of the Geelong games in the VFL, Bek and I decided we’d actually go down to TEAC Oval and watch the preliminary final betweeb Geelong and Williamstown. Although the weather turned a little nasty, it was a good day and Geelong ended up beating Williamstown by a few goals.

There were plenty of hard feeling from the Collingwood supporters that were there, living up to their reputation. This obviously excludes Jezza, and we won’t hold being a Collingwood supporter against him.

GNOME 2.16

two-sixteen.jpg

I emerged GNOME 2.16 on all of my Gentoo boxes over the weekend. I always love a good GNOME release, and this is no exception. It feels a little quicker, and even a little more stable.

Cheers to the GNOME devs for a great release.

Double the Fist!

It’s great to see that Double the Fist is coming back for Series 2 on JTV. I found it hard to believe that the ABC would drop Double the Fist in the first place, after winning an AFI Award in 2004 for Best Comedy Series – Sitcom or Sketch.

Full Fist to those who watch Double the Fist. Aararrggggghhhh!!!!

Brisbane Holiday

Bek and I just got back from our short holiday to Brisbane.e
We went to Dreamworld and Movieworld, and I got to ride all the cool rides. My favourite would probably be the Superman ride at Movieworld. Unlike the rides at Dreamworld, the Movieworld rides have a story, which makes the rides a little more interesting. The Superman ride was also nice because you shoot through a wall of a building though steam, so you can’t see what’s coming.. also the fact you go from 0 to 100km/h in 2 seconds.
