Google Talk

I was just reading on Slashdot about the new Google IM service, called Google Talk which is due to be announced tomorrow. They’re using the open source Jabber protocol, which is fantastic because this means that anyone on any system can use it on any client the supports Jabber! You rock Google!
How to get on:
Username: your gmail username (everything before the @gmail.com bit)
Password: your gmail password
Server: talk.google.com
That should be all you need. Just make sure that you don’t have encryption or any other fancy stuff turned on.
UPDATE: I have just been logged off, with the error “Not Allowed”, and I can’t log back in
Also, Shane has just put up a pic I took of him on the Segway and a short video of me too.

Hmmm that’s weird, I’ve been able to get on and stay on myself using GAIM through the google servers. What is your google email address btw and I’ll add you in?
Hopefully this large corporate backing really gives the Jabber cause a bit of momentum that it really deserves. I reckon we’ll be seeing a lot more of it in the future.
Jezza has tipped me too to some new settings for Gaim:
Server: gmail.com
Connect Server: talk.google.com
I am connected now at home, but I was having problems at work through the proxy.
The http://talk.google.com page has all the info on connecting using gaim. My username is shane.butler, add me biatch!
my username is cjjansen
add me too..you already have but i want some other google talk people..
thanks
